Misingi realizes development projects in Endamarariek ward and Engare Sero, Tanzania. The projects around education, water supply, food, agriculture, culture, entrepreneurship, … aim for sustainable strengthening of the local community. Starting from a local demand and a large local support, these projects lay foundations (Kiswahili: ‘misingi’) for the future. Misingi follows the philosophy of effective altruism: a combination of empathy, rationality and scientific evidence.
In Tanzania, Misingi focuses on people who, despite the limited resources they have, want to do everything they can to take their fate into their own hands. As a result, these people are both the target group and project partner. Misingi provides the resources, but counts on a large degree of local participation. Enthusiasm, dialogue, consultation and involvement form the basis for every successful project.
As a networking organisation, Misingi unites passionate people, organisations and companies in Belgium who can identify with the above-mentioned principles and who want to work respectfully to improve the fate of the target group. Misingi creates the conditions for them to successfully realise a project. Finally, Misingi offers those who have a warm heart for Tanzania, but do not have the time and resources to set up their own project, the opportunity to support ongoing projects in a meaningful way.
